A Photographer’s Life Update
Life as a wedding and elopement photographer in Scotland is always full of stories, and today I’m sharing a more personal one. Recently, I welcomed a new companion into my life—my dog, Alba. She’s already proving to be the perfect sidekick, whether she’s keeping me company while I edit wedding galleries or joining me on long walks through the Highlands. This little life update feels like the right moment to introduce her properly and share a glimpse of the heart behind my photography.
Rescue Dog Inverness: Alba’s Story
Alba came into my life through the Scottish SPCA in Inverness. She is a rescue dog with a past that would break anyone’s heart. For much of her early life, she was kept in a cage, starved, and rarely allowed outside. Because of this neglect, her back legs are dystrophied. We are working hard to build up her muscles and get some more weight on her. Despite everything she endured, Alba radiates gentleness. She has the kind of soulful eyes that speak of both sorrow and survival. She is proof that even the hardest stories can turn towards love.
Life with a 3 Year Old White German Shepherd
Welcoming Alba home has been a transformation. She may be a large dog, but she is also incredibly soft and affectionate. She is not very hyper and she often likes to curl up at my feet while I am at my desk. Or she’ll insist on sitting on my lap on the sofa.
Lessons from a Rescue Dog
Bringing a rescue dog into your life teaches you patience, empathy, and the joy of second chances. Alba has reminded me that healing takes time and that trust is built gently, day by day. These lessons feel inseparable from my work as a photographer, where trust and patience are at the heart of creating authentic, timeless images.
Looking Ahead
This is only the beginning of life with Alba. She’s already part of my daily rhythm, whether I’m heading out for a sunrise run or preparing my camera gear for a Highland elopement. I know she will continue to shape the way I see the world, both through my lens and in my personal life.If you’re considering welcoming a rescue dog, especially in Inverness or the Highlands, I cannot encourage it enough.
