There’s a quiet magic in Oban—a picturesque coastal gem nestled on Scotland’s stunning west coast. This charming town, with its dramatic seascapes, historic architecture, and sweeping vistas, provided the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable engagement session.

Their cinematic engagement in Oban
When my lovely couple, Rebecca & Iain, first reached out to me about capturing their engagement, they envisioned something genuinely romantic, authentic, and cinematic. Being based in Oban, they decided to drive up and make a weekend of it. Known as the gateway to the Isles, Oban is steeped in history and natural beauty, offering both intimacy and grandeur in every frame.
We began our session wandering down George Street, capturing the couple’s warmth and excitement as they explored quaint storefronts and shared sweet, candid moments along the bustling harbour. The soft afternoon glow added a dreamy, cinematic quality, highlighting their connection effortlessly.
Our adventure then led us up to the iconic McCaig’s Tower, with its captivating architecture reminiscent of a Roman coliseum. Surrounded by lush greenery, overlooking panoramic views of the harbour and islands beyond, it provided a spectacular stage for their love story. The wind gently danced through her hair, smiles lit their faces, and time seemed to stand still in those precious moments.
We continued to Dunollie Castle, an evocative ruin perched dramatically above the sea. Here, among the castle’s historic walls and endless views of Oban Bay, their love story felt timeless and deeply personal. Every glance, every touch became an elegant narrative of romance and adventure.
This Oban engagement session was truly cinematic, capturing not just a series of moments but a heartfelt story set against Scotland’s breathtaking landscape. As a photographer passionate about fine art and storytelling, sessions like these reaffirm why I adore documenting love in such captivating settings.
