When Rowen reached out to me this past winter, I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of their wedding celebration. Honestly, they are some of the kindest, sweetest, and most endearing people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and I knew imedditly that I wanted to be part of their Kilmartin Castle Elopement.
Typically, my pre-booking consultations last around 45 minutes to an hour, but when I met Rowen and Ottavia, we ended up chatting for what felt like ages. We bounced around various topics—dogs, travel, Italian food, and a bunch of other fun subjects. I often joke about finding clients who seem like a perfect match for me, but these two? They felt like angels sent from above.
It was one of those rare moments where you just know something special is happening. By the end of our conversation, it felt like I had known them for years. Their warmth and enthusiasm were completely infectious, and I could already picture the magic of their wedding day.
Eloping at Kilmartin Castle
Their wedding took place at the enchanting Kilmartin Castle in Kilmartin, Scotland, which is about an hour from Oban. While the weather wasn’t exactly sunny—well, it is Scotland, after all—it was pretty decent by local standards. A light mist hung in the air, giving everything a dreamy, almost fairy-tale vibe. The castle, with its ancient stone walls and lush greenery, felt like the perfect set for a romantic film. The atmosphere was just right for capturing those magical moments.
As the day unfolded, the castle grounds turned into a canvas for intimate and candid shots. Each click of the shutter seemed to capture something special. The mist created a soft, diffused light that made every photograph look like a painting.
Guests wrapped in cosy blankets while sipping bubbly added to the heartwarming scene. It felt like a joyful family reunion in this historic castle, all celebrating love and connection. Rowen and Ottavia looked absolutely radiant, and their joy was contagious. Every glance and smile between them revealed just how deep their affection ran.
We laughed, we cried, and we celebrated. And yes, we drank spritz—authentic Italian spritz! It was one of those weddings where you feel incredibly grateful to be there, witnessing two amazing people start this new chapter in their lives. Even though the mist was a bit chilly, the love and warmth radiating from everyone made it feel like the sunniest day ever.
