When Rowan contacted me this past winter, I immediately knew I wanted to be part of their wedding celebration. Truly, they are among the kindest, sweetest, and most endearing individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Typically, my pre-booking consultations last about 45 minutes to an hour. However, when I met with Rowan and Ottavia, we found ourselves conversing for what felt like an eternity. Our discussion meandered through various topics—dogs, travelling, Italian cuisine, and countless other subjects. I often jest about encountering clients who seem perfectly suited to me, but these two? They were like angels sent from the heavens.

It was one of those rare moments of instant connection, where you just know something extraordinary is unfolding. By the end of our conversation, it felt as though I had known them for years. Their warmth and enthusiasm were absolutely infectious, and I could already envision the splendour of their wedding day.

Their nuptials took place at the enchanting Kilmartin Castle in Kilmartin, Scotland, roughly an hour from Oban. While the weather was not particularly sunny—well, it is Scotland, after all—it was quite favourable by local standards. A delicate mist hung in the air, lending a dreamy, almost mythical quality to the surroundings. It was as if we had stepped straight into a fairy tale. The castle, with its ancient stone walls and lush green environs, felt like the set of a romantic film. The atmosphere was simply perfect for capturing those magical moments.

As the day progressed, the castle grounds became a canvas for intimate and candid shots. Every click of the shutter seemed to capture something truly special. The mist provided a soft, diffused light that rendered each photograph akin to a painting.

Guests, wrapped in cosy blankets and sipping on bubbly drinks, contributed to a heartwarming scene. It felt like a joyful family reunion in this historic castle, celebrating love and connection. Rowan and Ottavia looked absolutely radiant, their joy palpable and contagious. Every glance and smile between them revealed the depth of their affection.

We laughed, we cried, and we celebrated. And yes, we drank spritz—authentic Italian spritz! It was one of those weddings where you feel profoundly grateful to be present, witnessing two remarkable individuals embark on this new chapter of their lives. Though the mist may have been a bit chilly, the love and warmth emanating from everyone made it feel like the sunniest day imaginable.
